Thermoset Transfer Molding

Transfer molding is a derivative of compression molding. This process uses a basic compression machine with a plunger and transfer chamber to allow for single or multi-cavity molding. The material charge is  preformed to a specific size and preheated prior to loading.

In glass loaded material applications such as bulk molding compounds, transfer molding can maintain the integrity of fiber length versus injection molding. However, this process can be somewhat labor intensive as it requires a full-time operator to load the preforms.
